Sleigh Bells Ring...
As I'm sure everyone has heard by now - we had a little bout of snow recently. Unfortunately for our backyard, we saw trace amounts. Basil took right to it, sniffing it, staring at it. Barley on the other hand felt animosity towards the cold white stuff. He did his business and ran to sit by the door...the door that led to warmer/cozier feelings. Once inside Basil continued to be mesmerized and Barley (as usual) resumed fawning over me :)
So it stands to reason we were ready for our Christmas portraits...Enjoy!

In lurve

Today I caught Basil and Barley making out. That is, I rolled over in bed to see two tongues caressing the face/head region of the other party. Barley was lovingly lapping under Basil's ear, while she planted soft kisses on his fuzzy head. I let out a faint, "Ahem" to which Basil snapped into reality with a slight look of embarrassment. Barley, oblivious to anything other than Basil, continued to slurp slurp slurp on his new bestie.
Just wishing I had my camera...

Our new kicks...
Grandma & Grandpa Wendelburg gave us some funny things to wear this weekend. I, Barley, was totally fine with my Hawaiian shirt. But I, Basil, did not have much fun walking in my booties. They told me I will get used to them....

Basil at Work

Basil decided to file the bone! I have no idea how she got into this box. :)
Then towards the end of the day I told her she needed to help out around here. Answer the phones, greet the patients, anything! I tried....

3 Weeks 3 Days!
The days is almost here when we can take our little Barley home. I was just told how much of a little bundle of joy he is. Tibbie Jo (our wonderful breeder) called to say he was very playful and gets along great with his house dogs. We cannot wait!
On another note: Casey has his finals this week, so please keep him in your thoughts and prayers!

Memories...
For those of you who remember: I had a rabbit in college. Chickies (named courtesy of my little sister). Chickies was a kind and smart soul. His favorite candies were Smarties. One of the very first bunny snacks I got him were these little pink treats called 'Yogurt Dips'. It got to the point where I'd ask, "Chickies, do you want a Yogurt Dip?" and he'd frantically pace back and forth in his cage. From then on he found a taste for all sorts of human food. He was a bit of a chubby bunny. The guy at the pet store lied and said he was a mini. But I loved him none the less. Chickies did not pass on, I had to give him away. He learned to urinate outside his cage by positioning his rear up the side of it. He needed a home with a yard where he could play and pee at will. An apartment was not suitable for someone of his nature.
When browsing the Internet this morning, I saw a picture that reminded me so much of him. This one's for you Chickies :)

My new blog!
Since we have so many pictures of our new (and old) pup, I figured it'd best to do a mass posting with update info. Currently we are awaiting our newest addition: Barley. Barley was born on June 6th of this year. For those of you who don't know, we came upon the Tibetan Spaniel breed in 2007 when we found our little Basil. To date she is a spoiled rotten Daddy's girl who gets anything and everything she wants. Not my fault :) Basil is what they call a Sable color (mostly tan) and Barley is black. We were wanting a friend for Basil as we figure she gets lonely while we're away. My hope is that Barley will be a great little brother for Basil. We were so blessed to find such a great breeder in Texas. It just so happened that when I contacted her, she had just had a breeding. Odds were against us that we were going to get a boy. Not to mention he was the ONLY pup in the litter. But our wish came true and now we have only 6 more weeks until he's finally home :)
